Internet Support >> Personal Web Space
Support
Most Friendly Network plans include a certain amount of disk space that
may be accessed via the WWW. Common uses for this space include: e-bay
or other online auctions, family web pages, etc.

- How do I get started?
- Where do I transfer my files so that they can be viewed on the World
Wide Web?
- Once my files are uploaded, how can I view them using Internet Explorer
or Netscape?
- I have a cgi script I want to upload. Where do I place it and how
do I access it?
If you have another question, please contact
us.

- How do I get started?
To take advantage of your space, you need to compose your files. This
can be a simple JPG or GIF image of an item you want to list in an auction
or a complete web site. Once you have all your files you want to be
viewable on the web, you just need to transfer your files over to our
web server.
- Where do I transfer my files so that they can be viewed on the World
Wide Web?
You need to transfer them over to our webserver using an FTP client,
such as WS_FTP, CuteFTP, AbsoluteFTP or Fetch. The server address is:
ftp.friend.ly.net and you can use the same account information that
you use to log in to get connected to the Internet. If you are unsure
of what your logon information is, please contact
us.
- Once my files are uploaded, how can I view them using Internet Explorer
or Netscape?
To view your files, you need to open up Internet Explorer or Netscape
and go to: http://www.friend.ly.net/~username/filename, where your username
is your username with Friendly Network and the file name refers to the
name of the file you want to view. For example, it may be: http://www.friend.ly.net/~myname/boat.jpg
Just remember that our web server is case sensitive, so if the name
of your file contains upper case characters, then you can only call
them up using upper case characters.
- I have a cgi script I want to upload. Where should it go and how do
I call it?
You must create a cgi-bin directory inside your user-homepages directory
and upload your script there. To call the script, you must use cgiwrap.
The path should look something like this: http://www.friend.ly.net/~username/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/username/nameofscript.cgi
