Sites that are SSL enabled usually display a security logo and are accessed using the https protocol. Browsers detect secure connections and will feature a little lock icon when a secure connection is successfully made. SSL Certificates increase buyer confidence because owning a SSL Certificate involves screening and company verification. These certificates are issued by a certificate authority, such as Thawte or Verisign and are created using key pairs. SSL Certificates are not transferable domain name to domain name nor server to server; they are issued to a specific domain name on a specific server. Friendly Network can help you obtain a certificate. There is a annual fee of approx. $125 per year for the certificate and key pair itself (this is charged by the certificate authority) and an additional $10 per month hosting fee. Please allow up to 2 weeks for a certificate to be issued and installed. If you are interested in obtaining a certificate, or have questions, please contact us. A staff member will gladly answer your questions and take care of the process on your behalf at no additional charge. |
